In 2004, 2005, and 2006, Terry, Mike Danko, and Gary Simms were all named Super Lawyers by San Francisco Magazine. Terry was named one of the top 100 lawyers, in any field, for those three years. While the firm has tried cases in virtually every area of civil litigation, it is primarily known for its aviation practice. Before joining the firm in 1995, Mike Danko practiced with an internationally known Wall Street-based law firm, where he specialized in complex, high-risk business litigation. Since its inception, the firm has won a record-setting series of multi-million dollar jury verdicts, including a $16.6 million decision in a case involving the death of a child, by far the largest such verdict on the West Coast. This result exemplifies the firm’s success in unusual tort cases, as the case had been turned down by a number of firms claiming to be specialists. In recognition of this and other verdicts against a Taiwanese manufacturer of dangerous candies, the Consumer Attorneys of California named Terry O'Reilly Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2003. The firm’s success in obtaining $116,000,000 in verdicts prompted the FDA to issue a nation-wide recall of candies that had caused the choking deaths of dozens of young children around the world.
