Motor Vehicle Accidents:

$2.8 million settlement for lack of Electronic Stability Control in fatal two car highway collision on Kaumualii Highway on the island of Kauai, Hawaii

When my husband of 28 years died suddenly in an auto accident, I thought my life had ended, too. Losing him was the most painful experience of my life, and his tragic passing also left me with a multitude of unfinished business involving his company and his multiple business partnerships. I was so distraught and overwhelmed that there were so many mornings I did not want to get up to face the day.

Prior to meeting O'Reilly & Collins, I had unsuccessfully dealt with two other law firms who could not move my wrongful death lawsuit forward. I felt that no one cared that my husband had died so unjustly. Retaining O'Reilly & Collins was a blessing as they had the expertise and experience to help me. From our first communication, Mr. Collins and his assistant, Ms. Welch were caring and compassionate as well as knowledgeable, experienced, and highly efficient. They reassured me that something would be done, and that is exactly what they did. They kept me apprised throughout the entire process, helped me reach a satisfactory settlement, and brought some justice to the unfairness of my husband's death. I am forever grateful to the firm of O'Reilly & Collins and its wonderful, caring staff.

Pedestrian struck by an automobile

I am writing to tell you how happy I am with the legal service provided by your firm and especially Nina Shapirshteyn, your Russian-speaking attorney, without whom I would be completely lost. Nina had spent hours working on my case, and I could not be happier with the result. Throughout the process, your entire firm was very respectful and professional, and I want to thank you for all of your support.

In the end you assured our daughter was treated fairly and respectfully. For that we are eternally grateful. We also appreciate the professional manner in which it was done.

Seven figure settlement for passenger who suffered a broken back following a head-on car collision

Eighteen years old with my future brutally compromised in a split second. Right out the window it went, just like the meth head almost did after he ran into two of my friends and me in a head-on car collision. My body was broken and so were my spirits. In a time like this, families of victims need a sensitive but powerful support team on their side. The team from O'Reilly Collins was our remedy to a bad situation. They meticulously worked to gain evidence on my case and made progress immediately. Every person at the firm was kind, yet assertive, and worked efficiently to bring my case to a head. My family and I never felt pressured into decisions. Rather, we were thoroughly informed before each step and the firm kept us up-to-date on the continuing progress. We appreciated their work and their ability to skillfully settle my case. They righted the wrong that could have easily paralyzed my whole family. On behalf of myself and my family, who oversaw my recovery, we would absolutely recommend O'Reilly Collins to any future client.

Catastrophic Injury:

$24 million verdict for injuries sustained in an automobile collision with an ambulance

In April of 2007, my father was involved in a terrible head-on collision with a large ambulance. He was only a few hundred yards from just leaving his home when the ambulance veered into his vehicle. The next three years of my father's life would bring physical and mental pain that is virtually impossible for me to describe. His body was unable to move, paralyzed. A ventilator would breathe for him, and for the next two and a half years he would be confined to hospital walls!

Soon after the accident we knew we had to find a good attorney. The system was already trying to put my father at fault. The first reports were documenting that my father ran the stop sign, yet within hours there had been witnesses that seen my dad at a complete stop, and several witnesses that also seen the ambulance barreling down the highway. We knew we were in for a battle. We were up against a large corporation one with endless money, time, and a string of legal backing that would seem endless.

We interviewed a couple attorneys. As soon as we met Mr. O'Reilly we unanimously agreed he would represent my father. From the initial meeting Mr. O'Reilly was upfront and to the point. His demeanor was definitely that of an attorney who would not back down from a large powerful corporation. He was confident, sharp, and his disposition was one of knowledge and experience. He had the experience fighting corporations, where money, power, and resources were endless...and sometimes hopeless to the average person.

Our legal battle went on for two years. It was filled with depositions, filings, briefs, arguments, cross arguments, and long mediation days that always ended in attempted ridiculous negotiations. Finally in August 2008, we had a court trial. We were ready for those 12 jurors to hear my father's story! O'Reilly Collins had prepared the case with evidence, experts, knowledge, diligence and confidence. Mr. O'Reilly was very knowledgeable of the many legal elements and events that arouse during my father's case. He was prepared and confident in every argument he made. He was very thorough at getting the laws, facts, and evidence understood. Unanimously, the company who crippled my father was determined to be 99% at fault.

Although my father was physically unable to be at the trial, we had kept him well informed over the two year duration. Mr. O'Reilly also came to the hospital to meet my father. Although the meeting was brief, my father was a great judge of character. We were pleased to know that my father's impression of Mr. O'Reilly was one of which was strong, smart, and confident. He was pleased with the attorney we had hired.

This law firm has a great combination of attorneys. Ms. Shapirshteyn was excellent at keeping us informed during the incredibly long and complex process. She never made us feel like we were a bother during the many questions we had. Many times we were totally lost with all the legal terms and processes that were to take place. She was the very best explaining them to us, sometimes taking a few times to help us understand, she did it with ease and willingness. This law firm will do their job with knowledge and perseverance that cannot be beat. They will fight hard for what is right and will not bend from any unjust pressure until the highest monetary justice has been obtained.

With all sincerity,

-J.D.

Aviation Accidents:

Confidential settlement for the family of a passenger who died in a 737-crash

A death in the family in the year 2000 on Air Philippines flight 541 instigated the initial connection with the O'Reilly firm. For several years now our family have worked with this firm. It is hard to put to paper the gratitude that I, and many others, feel towards the firm's management of this tragedy that befell our family.

In a time of grief, we were so very blessed to be presented with staff who not only had a depth of knowledge and previous experience in major tragedies, but staff who were positive, committed, sensitive, patient and ardent in their efforts. When we felt we were ready to tip over - they were there to prop us up again. During one of the most difficult periods for our family, they remained our strongest advocates, were approachable and had the utmost integrity.

Our family cannot thank the staff enough for their persistence in this case, for continuing to forge ahead despite the intricacies and barriers that continued to pervade us all. They were always considerate, thoughtful, diplomatic and unwavering in their support for their clients. They are a testament to their field; continuing to do this work at their own financial risk, in the hope of the right outcome - the just outcome.

This firm was responsive, attentive and pretty incredible given we had to deal with them from another continent. Even now, long after the case was finalized, the relationship we built with the O'Reilly law firm continues till this day. They are principled, professional and for our family, they have forged lifelong friendships with us.
