Tire Placement

Dealership and Tire Repair Shop Negligence

Whether you take your car or truck to a dealership, a national chain or to an independent mechanic, you have a right to expect that they will do their job competently.

When performing tire maintenance, car repair centers have an obligation to put the newest tread on the rear axel. Proper tire placement is important because tires wear down at different rates, with newer tires providing better traction than older ones. And in terms of accident prevention and avoidance, it is generally better to have more traction coming from the rear tires.

Differences in traction can cause oversteering, spin outs and other problems, which in turn can cause serious or fatal motor vehicle accidents.

If you have been injured in an accident and had recently taken your vehicle in for tire maintenance, you should know that negligent tire placement is a very subtle accident cause, and one most lawyers would not recognize.

Helping Injured People Recover and Helping Make the World a Safer Place

Attorneys at O'Reilly Collins have been helping injured people in California and throughout the United States for more than 40 years. We are proud of the outstanding results we have been able to achieve for our clients, and of the fact that we have been able to help make the world a safer place because of it.

Rough twenty years ago, in fact, we commissioned serious research into tire placement questions. That research later resulted in an SAE (Society of American Engineers) paper and changes in the tire placement advice given by the major tire manufacturers on their Web sites.
